The Role
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the cost accounting processes within Veev. This role involves analyzing financial data related to the cost of goods or services, preparing detailed cost reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic recommendations to improve cost efficiency. Additionally, it covers monitoring inventory and fixed assets.
Responsibilities
- Project Maintenance and Coordination
- Set up projects as necessary
- Ensure model numbers align with reporting requirements
- Coordinate active projects in payroll system with the B&I team
- Cost Analysis and Reporting
- Conduct detailed cost analysis of projects ensuring reasonableness.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, including variance analysis
- Monitor and analyze project valuations and cost structures.
- Ensure accurate project costing for pricing decisions.
- Revenue, Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts.
- Assist in the preparation of cost projections for future projects and initiatives.
- Ensure budgets are in NetSuite
- Properly record revenue and COS
- Inventory
- Monitor changes in inventory including work orders, transfer orders and adjustments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create allowance for obsolescence.
- Lead physical count
- Monitor scrap and work order completion; ensure inventory-in-transit is active
- Reconcile inventory monthly
- Fixed Assets
- Own fixed assets reconciliation including leases
- Review the fixed asset clearing account in detail at least quarterly
- Perform a quarterly physical count
- Process and System Improvement
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance cost-efficiency and project reporting .
- Work with IT teams to ensure cost accounting systems are accurate and up to date.
- Monthly Close, Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
- Lead costing, inventory and fixed asset reconciliation understanding variances in detail
- Ensure accounts are fully reconciled within monthly deadlines
- Collaborate across teams to align cost strategies with company objectives.
Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in cost accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Veev uses NetSuite).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.

Compensation
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $100,000 - $135,000 annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
