Veev is leading the way in the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev’s prefabricated closed panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on site while delivering both a more sustainable and higher quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev is leveraging the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach from its roots as a Silicon Valley based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multi-disciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

The Role

As a Prototype and Sandbox Engineer, you'll contribute to Veev’s technological evolution in prefabricated home manufacturing and installation. Your expertise will accelerate the development of innovative systems and subsystems, structural components, architectural layers, and general home related items. Key success factors include strong partnerships with internal teams and stakeholders, and executing rapid prototyping in a fast and dynamic environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of Veev’s product team in charge of shaping the future of home building.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and engineering, to define projects objectives, requirements, and timelines for new product / feature development which require testing and validations.
  • Develop, implement and execute rapid prototyping processes, leveraging technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and laser cutting, to create physical prototypes for systems such as structural members, MEP systems, doors, windows and other home fixtures.
  • Perform design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis to ensure smooth transitions from prototype to production.
  • Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, iterating on designs to meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Document and present project progress, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Plan, manage and lead the integrations of new solutions (NPI) into Veev’s manufacturing lines.
  • Develop and test jigs, fixtures and similar manufacturing accessories for both the manufacturing facility and the installation site.
  • Lead the daily operation of Veev’s sandbox environment which includes mechanical testing, CNC router, and similar tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3+ years proven experience in prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical / structural members, or construction materials.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing prototypes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from testing procedures.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to prefabricated construction is a plus.
  • Experience with the programming and operation of 3axis CNC machines and material processing using NestingWorks and CamWorks is a plus.
