In this role, you will directly contribute to the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of modern home construction by leading the development of new products or features to downstream partners. Your work will have a tangible impact on Veev’s ability to scale operations and drive industry-wide change.

The Role

As the Senior NPI Engineer, you will oversee NPI Technician(s) and will directly contribute to release of new products or features to downstream partners from the Sustaining Engineering team. The downstream partners include Manufacturing (Fab), Manufacturing (Site), Real Estate, Quality, Supply Chain, Warehouse / Logistics, Marketing, Legal, etc. teams. The candidate will follow the set NPI process at Veev and streamline it to improve process efficiency iteratively with each release. The candidate will leverage quantified KPIs to track NPI release progress and improve with every release over time. This role is 80% tactical and 20% strategic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives across multiple teams (Engineering, Supply Chain, Fabrication, Installation, Real Estate, Legal, Quality, and Marketing).
  • Develop and manage comprehensive Release Notes to communicate key product and process changes across various departments:
    • Scope & Overview of the NPI
    • Bill of Materials (BOM) Changes
    • Supply Chain Impact
    • Fabrication Impact
    • Building & Installation (B&I) Impact
    • Real Estate & Legal Impact
    • Product Quality Impact
    • Marketing Impact
  • Organize and lead cross-functional release meetings with stakeholders in Supply Chain, Fab, Building & Installation, Real Estate & Legal, Quality, and Marketing.
  • Facilitate discussions on new, obsolete, and modified parts, material flow, sourcing, inventory management, and PLM integration with Supply Chain.
  • Oversee the coordination of fabrication process updates including work instructions, tooling, automation, and cycle time assessment.
  • Ensure alignment with B&I for work instructions, training, safety, and site performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Real Estate & Legal to review impact on permits, zoning, contracts, and legal compliance.
  • Work with the Quality team to ensure product quality and process changes are integrated into work instructions, training, and KPI assessments.
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure clear communication of product changes, align messaging, and support product launches.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of detailed product documentation including BOM, work instructions, and part hierarchy definitions.
  • Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to track the progress of NPI milestones, ensuring timely delivery of product features.
  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure product launch success across multiple teams.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for downstream teams, addressing any challenges or changes as needed.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in NPI or related engineering fields within a manufacturing or product development environment, preferably in the construction or modular housing industry or automotive.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in BOM management, supply chain logistics, product lifecycle, and part hierarchy definition.
  • Deep understanding of product design, fabrication processes, quality systems, and installation procedures.
  • Knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems, NetSuite, and ERP software.
  • Experience with tooling, automation, and process optimization.
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed schedules and release notes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare and present technical documents and updates for cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify process gaps, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions to ensure smooth product launches.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Experience working in the construction or modular housing industries, particularly in a start-up or high-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with building codes, zoning regulations, and other legal considerations related to housing.
  • Experience with Arena PLM or other similar PLM software tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process optimization, including lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance in manufacturing and construction environments.
  • Experience in consumer product marketing or product launch strategies, especially in the context of a new and disruptive product.

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
