This role is critical to Veev's mission of transforming the construction industry with modern, sustainable, and efficient construction techniques. In this role, you will directly contribute to the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of modern home construction by leading the development of MEP design and building models. Your work will have a tangible impact on Veev’s ability to scale operations and drive industry-wide change.

The Role

As an MEP Engineer, you will oversee the production and development of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing models, ensuring a high level of detail and precision. You will be responsible for energy and water supply calculation, and working with AoR you will be responsible to implement T24 (Energy code) into the design. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, resolve clashes, validate designs with analysis, and facilitate seamless project execution. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with in-house and external teams, enhancing Veev’s innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain highly detailed, coordinated BIM Revit models, integrated with STR and MEP disciplines, in collaboration with in-house teams according to MEP guidelines provided by R&D team
  • Coordinate with third-party designers for sprinklers, fire alarms, and other systems, ensuring adherence to Veev design guides.
  • Ensure solutions from R&D are complete, aligned with Veev’s standards, and compatible with specific home designs.
  • Highlight gaps in design and resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Create specific building details for factory production and on-site construction based on R&D developments and Coordinate with third-party designers for sprinklers, fire alarms, and other systems, ensuring adherence to Veev design guides.
  • Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities in system designs while maintaining performance and quality.
  • Work with the BIM & MCAD team to create robust digital assets for modeling.
  • Provide updates to the team lead and key stakeholders on task progress and deliverables.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Deep understanding of mechanical system design (HV, LV, Water, Sewage and Fire Suppression)
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and BIM environments.
  • Excellent understanding of how MEP systems impact architecture (ARC) and structural (STR) designs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to innovation.
  • Ability to take many considerations and constraints from many disciplines and stakeholders into account.
  • Practical experience in construction or site management/supervision.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution, lighting, and controls for residential buildings.
  • Knowledge of California Title 24 (Energy Code) compliance.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven practical experience in MEP design and coordination.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (or ability to obtain within one year).
  • Fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks software & PDM.
  • Experience in fire suppression and life safety systems for modular housing.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, manufacturing or off-site assembly environment.
  • Advanced skills in coordination tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of American Building Codes and permitting processes.

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
